A move to go directly to Caribbean source

Up until now, most of the Caribbean players who have starred in MLS have almost without exception come via the U.S. college ranks. They were already residing in the United States (like Shalrie Joseph and Ezra Hendrickson) or first came for boarding school (Shavar Thomas) or recruited to play college soccer (Stern John and Andy Williams). Now MLS will go directly to the source with the launch of the first Caribbean player combine in January.

"Donovan was excellent. We knew he was a good player, but he really didn't do anything wrong in the whole game and made it difficult for us."

Guess this is a way to "cut out" the "locals" ...i.e. Players Agents and in some cases clubs. ...as trust me this is the start of an effort to 'take over' and cull our best talents while transferring as much of the coming income as is possible to persons and entities outside of Jamaica.

    MLS to the US.

It is the 16 through 18year olds who eventually will be in most demand.

It is simple - The raw talent is at the earliest age-groups. The older players are as 'leopards whose spots cannot be changed'. We must face facts that the older our players the longer they have absorbed 'bad habits'...learned the wrong things and converted same to reflex action.

Easier to teach the very young to absorb 'correct way of doing' than to have older players 'unlearn' bad habits and be converted to playing the 'right way'.

Currently every season new great talents emerge and are observed absorbing 'silly' instructions from ignorant so-called coaches. If it were not so, why isn't our standards of play not much improved from that seen in 1998 some 15 years past?
