    Spurs candidates....
Andre Villas-Boas became the fifth Premier League manager to leave his post this season after being sacked by Tottenham on Monday. We take a look at a few options to replace him.

    Premier League Relegation 13/14

Tottenham sacked manager Andre Villas-Boas on Monday in the wake of their 5-0 home defeat by Liverpool less than 24 hours earlier.

The former Chelsea boss had been in charge at White Hart Lane for just 18 months and becomes the fifth Premier League manager to lose his job this season.

The spotlight will now switch to who Spurs chairman Daniel Levy will turn to as the Portuguese's replacement and, here, Sky Sports looks at some of the likely candidates.

FABIO CAPELLO - Sky Bet odds: 12/1

The veteran Italian was at White Hart Lane on Sunday and his long-time right-hand man Franco Baldini is the club's technical director. Capello is currently the coach of Russia and has a World Cup ahead, but may fancy a return to club management and a shot at the Premier League.

    FRANCO BALDINI - 40/1

Baldini has plenty of top-level experience, albeit not as a manager. He has served with the likes of Real Madrid and England with Capello, and has signed a lot of the Tottenham squad. If he fancies being a manager, this may be his opportunity to step into the dugout.

    MICHAEL LAUDRUP - 11/2

The Dane is well thought of as a result of the job he has done at Swansea, continuing the good work of previous managers and winning the Capital One Cup last season. Has a reputation for playing good football and would command the instant respect of the players given his standing in the game as a former great.

    GUUS HIDDINK - 22/1

Hiddink is a seasoned trouble-shooter and is currently out of work after a well-travelled and successful career - although he will start a second spell with Holland after the World Cup so would only be a short-term fix. Has managed in the Premier League before with Chelsea, winning the FA Cup in 2009.

    TIM SHERWOOD - 7/4

A former Spurs midfielder, Sherwood would be something of a left-field choice as he has no managerial experience. But the 44-year-old former England international works for the club in a technical coaching role, has done his coaching badges and has the benefit of knowing the players.

    ROBERTO DI MATTEO - 18/1

Has plenty of experience of picking up the pieces of a Villas-Boas job, having replaced him at Chelsea and going on to win the Champions League with his squad of players. Sacked by Chelsea a year ago and has not worked since, but if Spurs want him they may have to move fast as he is being linked with a move to old club West Brom.

    Redknapp's view

"It's a great job for someone to take over because with the players they've got there is still a lot of quality there. The first person you think of, because of Franco Baldini being there, is Fabio Capello. Obviously they have a vested interest together. But it's not that easy. The young managers you'd want, people like Jurgen Klopp and Diego Simeone, are in the Champions League. It's not that easy to go and get the manager that you want."

All Sky Bet odds are subject to change.

white chairmen think black players are not "educated enough"

Chairmen 'think black players not educated enough' to be managers

Football chairmen think black players are not "educated enough" to become managers, says Birmingham academy coach Michael Johnson.
Chris Kiwomya's departure from Notts County leaves only three black managers in the Premier and Football Leagues.
"The stats are alarming. There does seem to be a trend that we are not getting opportunities," said Johnson.

Fifa's anti-racism chief Jeffrey Webb recently told the BBC black players in England were "demoralised".
"We have three black managers at the helm and when you look at boardroom level, we have none," Johnson told BBC Radio 5 live.
"I think it's a lack of education from the guys upstairs, the board members who seem to think that black players are OK to go and play for their club, but when it comes to managing or stepping upstairs into the boardroom, that might be a problem.
"I wouldn't say it's racist but I think there are some severe problems with some people maybe not thinking that a black player is educated enough to go upstairs in a boardroom capacity.
"A black player may be well thought of as a player, but may not be thought of as a manager in their eyes.
"I think it is a lot of ignorance on the part of some of the owners and people at boardroom level, who suggest we are not good enough to go in there and fill the boots in certain positions - especially at the Premier League and Championship levels."

Johnson played for Birmingham during their promotion season in 2001-02, in a career that also took in spells at Derby, Notts County and Sheffield Wednesday.
The former Jamaica international had a two-game stint as joint caretaker manager of Notts with Dave Kevan following the sacking of Ian McParland in October 2009.
Webb, Fifa's anti-racism task force chief, had earlier said that many non-white players felt they did not get chances to move into coaching or management.
He explained: "Many of them are becoming very demoralised and these are issues of course that we hope the FA will take on and that of the Premier League."
