    EPL? - Tight, huh?

    20 TEAMS battle it out.

    21 games out of 38 played. 17 matches to go.

    Position 1 through 6 covered by 8 points
    - 1 has accumulated 48 points.
    - 6 has accumulated 40 points.

    Position 20 (bottom of the EPL) through 10th covered by 6 points.
    - 20 has accumulated 17 points.
    - 10 has accumulated 23 points.

    Tight, huh?

      Yes, but at this point - it is pretty much a 3 horse race for the title and a 4 horse race for 4th. Arsenal's test will come in mid March when they have to play Spurs, Chelsea, City and Everton back to back after facing Bayern away...and all away except for the City game at Emirates.

      City on their part better hope their recent (tiefin) away form holds as they have to go to Manu**, Liverpool, Arsenal, Everton and Spurs this half of the season.

      Chelsea has the most balanced run into May, with no major teams back to back and out of the top 6 teams, they only have to play City and Liverpool away, everyone else (Manu**, Everton, Arsenal, Spurs) are home games, which bodes well for them.

      And in the spirit of saving the best for last, Liverpool only have Manu** in the top 7 away from home this half, so if our home form holds, we could be right in the mix come May.

      Anyway, at this point, Chelsea seem to have a very good chance to take the title based on the fixture list (and current form) but as you know, injuries, suspensions and refereeing payoffs all have a part in the drama.

      So you never know.

        Good assessment boss. It should be interesting to see how the rest of the season play out.

        This is the most competitive season I can recall as long as I have been following the EPL. Certainly no two horse race.

          Definitely tight, just saw a detail from opera stat saying that there has never been four team with more than 42 points after match 21 in the history of the Epl, that probably does not mean the old division one, but probably start of Epl in 1992.

            ...and ignore the lesser teams at your peril.
            Particularly needs watching:
            - Everton
            - Tottenham
            - BoyU
            - Newcastle
            - Southamton
            - Hull
            - Aston Villa (particularly if Benteke comes back to top form)
            - Swansea
            - West Brom
            - Norwich
            - Cardiff
            - Sunderland
            - Crystal Palace

            Aside:
            Perhaps even West Ham shall take down one of the big boys!

            Hull? ..can take down any of the big boys but do the players believe?

            Hull's coach/manager/teacher has a big problem all the other EPL coaches/managers/teachers do not have. He has not 'educated' his players/his TEAM into fearing none of the big TEAMs. All the other managers, save big Sam's charges lying down and rolling over for ManCity, all have a real go at the big boys.

            Yup! ...all the other coaches/managers/teachers have got that part of their teaching right - They have imparted 'belief'!!! They all have their players believing they belong and can take down any other TEAM. Clap dem!

              Although one have to marvel at how quickly the mighty has fallen.

              Anyway, know that you just put a target on your back for Lazie, Rockman and Jangle. I know Westman can take it.

                Really? I saw the post and had no reaction. The reality is we're in midtable and if it was any other team I would certainly point it out.

                      This is no put-down or jiving of Lazie, Westman, Jangle and the other BoyU faithful. Please take a 2nd look at how they play?

                        And prior to 1981 you'd have to adjust points to make a mangoes to mangoes comparison as that's when they changed from two points to three points for a win; I couldn't remember when that was but Wikipedia says 1981.

                          Just to return to an earlier post you made on...

                          possible number of points for the TEAM that lifts the EPL trophy -
                          Arsenal - 48
                          ManCity - 47
                          Chelsea - 46
                          Liverpool - 42

                          17 matches left x 3 pt. = 51 pt. up for grabs.
                          That 80+ pt. looks in peril!!!!

                          Just imagine if any of the top 4 win all other matches save those against the other 3 that would be 14 x 3 pt. = 42 pt.

                          GUNNERS - 90 pt.
                          or
                          Man City - 89 pt.
                          or
                          Chelsea - 48 pt.
                          or
                          Liverpool - 84 pt.

                            Yes Karl, I messed up big time on my basic arithmetic there. I have no doubt that 80 will be more than easily breached.

                              For all the hope that the points total will favour my GUNNERS and them by some...do not give up yet.

                              The difference in quality among the teams...well at least 17 of the teams...is not too wide that upsets could not feature more often and with enough regularity in this 2nd half of the season such that the winner's points total could be south of 80.

                              Hey...throw in a few draws and...????
