Sorry Lazie, correct call. Before he finished the strike he won the ball by putting his foot above the defender's shoulder nearly kicking off the fellow's head.

Really? So how Rooney do the same thing in the 60th minute prior to Bastian's yellow card? Bull feces call that.

I think it should not have been disallowed.
Dangerous play has to be exactly that,he touched only what he is allowed to,the ball wasn't exactly neck height(defender lowered his head),the only problem is if it impeded the defender....,no evidence it did.

Brave and most times stupid defenders will put their head down in a 50-50 high ball knowing that the ref will call a foul for dangerous play. That was a beautiful and perfectly legal goal scored by Welbeck. The ball was about chest height when he took it down and the defender's face was no where near Welbeck's foot.
Hey .. look at the bright side .... at least you're not a Liverpool fan! - Lazie 2/24/10 Paul Marin -19 is one thing, 20 is a whole other matter. It gets even worse if they win the UCL. *groan*. 05/18/2011.MU fans naah cough, but all a unuh a vomit?-Lazie 1/11/2015

You have a point Lazie, the defender lowered his face toward Welbeck's boots. It's a 50/50 call.

I would have no issues if the goal was allowed.
