benching and/or loaning a player is not what I would associate with "destroying" a player... e.g. Borini, Lukaku, and players spending a lot of time on the bench come back and have a point to prove. That being send, "over-benching" (if that's a word) can backfire, if the coach thinks that will motivate the player to try harder/execute better...

But sometimes the player not playing your style a ball game. Look at Andy Caroll. Look at Roy Keanne, he became a poison to his own team venting about giving Ronaldo and Rooney time while him and Van Nestory a sit down. The coach knew what he was doing, so if you can't relax like Gigsy then you go bout your business. For a good coach, the team is more important than any player.

How transferring Stam destroyed him? Come on PR, you wrong on this one. Fergie protected his players so much, instead of calling them out, he would go after the ref etc. Is after he retired we knew his opinion of players ... so come again.

Forunately, Stap was capable... Fergie erred (which he admitted) but he had a bug up his backside against Stam, and he was getting rid of him, hell or high water...

PR, he got rid of him, he didn't cuss him or call him out like Mourinho. Admit it say yuh get this one wrong and slide to the left.
