  • Super forwards -tiers and Balotelli for paul m.

    Super star forward tier levels for you Paul.

    Primo class -0.95 goal event per game, always against denominator of 38 games, don't care about injuries, etc etc all get measured with same stick of a full season. First tier not necessarily in any order.
    1. Zlatan 26 goals, 11 assists in 38 games, a goal event per game.
    2. Ronaldo 31 goals, 9 assists in 38
    3. Messi 28 goals 11 assists 38 games
    4. Suarez 31 goals, eleven assists

    Second tier 0.70 gpe per game.
    5. Sturridge 22 goals, 7 assists
    6. Rooney 17 goals ten assists
    7. Tevez 19 goals seven assists
    8. Toni 20 goals seven assists

    Third tier 0.60 gpe
    9. Aguero 17 goals six assists
    10. Giroud 16 goals, eight assists

    Fourth tier .50 gpe and better
    15. Balotelli 14 goals, five assists

    Funny how the stats best out the fundamental reality of how these guys roughly rate in the eyes of public consciousness without stats.

    Funny how that stat doesnt factor in the S.S partnership, if it did where would S.S be on the list ?

    I doubt they would make it , point is partnership is everything.These strikers must have the requiste quality to achieve that goal.

    Talk to me after Balo dun di season and a half , like S.S did.

    "It therefore is useless and pointless, unless it is for share malice and victimisation to arrest and charge a 92-year-old man for such a simple offence. There is nothing morally wrong with this man smoking a spliff; the only thing wrong is that it is still on the law books," said Chevannes.

      Where did you get this from? I think that the other factor is the actual leagues these guys play in and the teams they play for. Having a good supporting cast makes a difference. Where is Costa on this list? (27 in 35 appearances in La Liga last year), plus I think a few assists (7 I think, not sure). That would put him squarely in the top 8, no?

        Those facts as 'stand alone' stats do not tell the entire story. There are also - hitting the John v clear-cut chances so to do;

        - ...and the tangible result quality TEAM within which the striker performs add (e.g. number of tap-ins presented as a result of TEAMs' gifts of same/pergame;

        - ...and of course quality competitive situations within which the striker performs e.g. Luton Shelton's bags v our bottom tier Caribbean opponents. ...some of the European Leagues, it is said, have not more than 3 teams where the opponent provides top quality resistance????

          That is my quick cobble, Costa would be second tier he has three assists and 27 goals not quite at the top level of the first four.

          These are from just the top leagues, la liga, epl, serie a, French div 1, bundleliga, those are the top five in the world and results across them are very close to equal from an individual standpoint, that is my view anyway.
          It is not comprehensive more a strong indicator of quality across key players in the top leagues.

          You asked the question in sone thread below and this was relative to Balotelli discussion and you implied Balo was a top five forward and when you dig in I would say at best he is top twenty maybe top fifteen.

            Stats are not the whole story but they probably tell 99 percent of the story especially over a full season in the top professional divisions.

            All those scenarios you discuss over a season get marginalized as a primary or secondary disruptive influence on the stats. Maybe on the team you play may make a difference but not really as most of these players are playing for top clubs and getting all the first eleven games they can play.

            Truth is even in the second and third tier leagues very few actually have the stats as shown in the first tier players and none of our players ever get to even close to any of these stats in any league.

            Fillers best stats over an epl season was eleven goals and two assists, I can't think of any yard born in last twenty years who has done better in any of those top five world leagues, hey maybe that is the best ever, maybe king, who is uk born, actually best year was 22 goals and ten assists but that was championship so not apples to apples.

              Good stats.
              Let us see how Balotelli does. I wished for him to my GUNNERS!!!!
              Would not surprise if his figures approach 20 goals and close to 10 assists even in this Liverpool team with assists coming from Sterling and to a lesser extent Sturridge and others...and goals coming at furious rate from Sterling and Sturridge.

                Balotelli might actually work like charm for the gunners, lots of good ball feeders and his big man style could probably work well in a team like that, Giroud needs to be fed and baloney could easily fit into that structure.
