  • Academies! - Gamma when did you first visit this site?

    ...earliest version?

    Year would be enough.
    Thanks!

    That is a false question
What is the reason for asking
    It's not a simple answer

Anyway rice is still cheap! 😄

No hidden reasons for asking. I belive you have honest doubts about my views on Academies. You have to always keep in mind that -
      a) Jamaica's best interests are paramount;

      b) Context - Jamaica's reality as per the nation's resources and needed football organization i.e. use and structures and most important administrative/leadership capacity and quality.

I think you and Sass have challenges making connections/following threads article through article...post through succeeding post on topics e.g. Academies. That may be the reason why you arrive at the conclusion that my stance is not firm or consistent on successive pronouncements.

May I suggest a comb through the articles and posts where I addressed Academies. You would then be able to better to appreciate my take on i) Academies and ii) how they fit in football development with specific reference to our JA's needs.

Perhaps the 2002 article - Sunday, January 20, 2002 BUSINESS BY DESIGN: The Plan And Progress For Excellence. - http://www.reggaeboyzsc.com/views.aspx?val=the&id=45 - may be a good place to start?

From an old forum - ACADEMIES - Aside: Odds against England

Interesting article filled with info -

        A quote:

"The emphasis is not just on producing young footballers, it is about producing rounded young people," said Collins.

It is all about the little things. But the little things matter

        Former Monaco player John Collins

"There is a lot of emphasis on education because the players live at the academies.

"They come in at the age of 14 and it's train, school class, train, school class.

"They are under complete surveillance all the time. They have to work at their grades and are assessed each month.

        End of quote!

Karl this is very good. What I can't understand is your constant push to make high school the top development tool for our kids. Academies seems to be in total contrast to your recent rantings.

With budget problems, staffing, and all the constraint and technical problems in Jamaica, who you think can have a better impact on our top players and overall development?
