About the USL Men’s Player Showcase presented by UMBRO
Philosophy
To provide an opportunity for the top Under-23 players to showcase their skills and abilities to professional league teams and coaches.
When and where does the combine take place?
The combine will take place in Tampa, FL. just minutes away from Tampa International Airport. It will run from December 17 – 20. All flights should arrive at Tampa International Airport on Sunday December 17th by 3:00 PM and depart on December 20th anytime after 4:00 PM. Transportation will be provided to and from the airport.
What are the costs involved for the combine?
The player fee is broken up into three tiers:
1) 2006 All League or All Conference Team - $275 *
2) PDL playing experience - $300 *
3) Non-PDL playing experience - $325 *
*Participant is responsible for travel to and from Tampa.
$25 late fee will be applied to any applications recieved after October 15th
How can you participate in the combine?
Anyone is welcome to apply for the combine, but we will only accept a maximum of 256 top-level players in 2006. When you apply you must submit a player resume or bio along with the application. Please do not send any form of payment with application and bio. Only upon acceptance into the combine, will you submit payment. From the time of your acceptance you will have two weeks to submit payment and flight information in order to solidify your spot in the combine. Although there is a rolling admission process, the deadline to apply is October 15th, 2006. You will receive notice of acceptance no later then October 18th.
How are you selected for the combine?
Players looking to participate in the combine will be selected based on their playing background, and the merit their soccer achievements. In order to qualify for Under-23 you must be born on or after January 1, 1983, this is the current U23 date that is used for the 2006 PDL season.
Showcase Details:
Players selected to the combine will be placed on teams at random to provide the optimum level of scouting to coaches’ and general managers’. The showcase will kick off on Sunday evening with teams playing several short-sided matches. Players will enjoy a relaxed, fun and loose atmosphere for the opening night.
Monday and Tuesday will be broken up into two segments. The morning half of each day will have stations and skill oriented drills set up where players can display their individual abilities. Each team will participate in one afternoon game per day. The event will conclude with each team participating in one game on Wednesday morning prior to the conclusion of the showcase. All showcase matches on Wednesday will be full-sided and seventy minutes in duration.
