  • HL!!!.......Here's some info for you

MLS Expansion: Teams 25 and 26 will be announced by the third quarter of 2017 and begin MLS play by 2020. The new expansion fee, for those 2 teams, will be $150 million each. Teams 27 and 28 will be announced at a later date, at a price delivered in conjunction with the timeline.
10 markets have publicly expressed interest in securing an MLS expansion team: Charlotte, Cincinnati, Detroit, Nashville, Raleigh/Durham, Sacramento, St. Louis, San Antonio, San Diego and Tampa/St. Petersburg.

Heard that Red Bull GmbH received an offer for New York Red Bull…….Was wondering if it was Fenway Sports Group, NEEP Roma Holding SpA, or a joint venture, since both had interest in owning MLS teams. Fenway had approached Kraft (New England Revolution) about purchasing the team or partnering with him & moving the team to Boston, but that went nowhere.

David Wagner was one of the names being floated around as the next USMNT head coach, for the next World Cup cycle, now I’m hearing he’s in the running to be the next coach of VfL Wolfsburg.

MLS teams have been doing a lot of shopping in Latin America. Happy to see that most of the signings, so far, have been players from 20 to mid 20s. Tired of seeing teams sign tired, old players like Gerrard & Lampard, who neither bring nor add anything to the league. No need for these “retirement” signings, plus they can go make more money in China…….Terry & company, head for the CSL.

How much playing time did Drogba get?

The old "brand names" from EPL are there for attracting ticket sales.

The US is big enough to accommodate up to ~30 teams like the NFL, MLB and NBA.
The only time TRUTH will hurt you...is if you ignore it long enough

        Drogba played in 22 games (started 18) = 1650 mins........He scored 10 goals & had 6 assists.

I don't think that attraction, to aging stars, is as strong, as supporters are getting more soccer savvy.......I see & hear more supporters calling for MLS teams to start focusing more on youth development & signing young promising international players.

Yes!!! I agree with you, because -
*When it comes to youth participation & family involvement, SOCCER is still the #1 sport, in the U.S.
*When you consider that there are so many states, especially in the middle of the country, that don't have a professional soccer team.
*So many cities are interested in having a MLS team - 10 cities & clubs have submitted proposals for 4 new spots.
*The league has already announced they would expand to 28.
*There are MORE people watching and following professional club soccer (local & international).
