  • Disband JFF

It is doubtful that even if burdened with a significant handicap, any other Jamaican institution is as incompetently managed as the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF). Indeed, the ineptitude of the Federation’s bosses is so egregious that they are likely to be blissfully ignorant of their failures. It won’t occur to them to go. Which is what they should do – en masse.

In fact, the JFF should go further. As we have recommended before, the Federation should disband itself, opening the way for a creation of a new, transparent and accountable organisation for overseeing football in Jamaica. All current JFF officials and managers should, at least for a decade, be ineligible for leadership positions in the new organisation, and its officers should be subject to fit-and-proper and psychometric tests to determine their suitability for posts.

We make these recommendations, convinced that the JFF, as currently constituted, is incapable of reform. Its culture of permissiveness and unaccountability is too deep.

    ‘STEP DOWN!’

Former Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) President Tony James and veteran football administrator Carvel Stewart believe current head Michael Ricketts lacks the requisite acumen to continue leading the sport’s local governing body and, as such, should relinquish the post.

In fact, both are of the view that the entire administration should demit office for the chaos that has unfolded in Jamaica’s football over the past few years with players and some coaches consistently expressing discontent at the constant “lack of respect, transparency and communication” from the JFF hierarchy of which General Secretary Dalton Wint is said to be the main protagonist.

While both agree that Wint was in over his head in the position, they echo similar sentiments that the embattled administrator was a mere scapegoat used to cover the JFF’s broader shortcomings.

Jangle they have no shame and will not step aside either. They may even will the next election (scary). The fact is these are the same people going to vote in any new organization. Until you have people willing to challenge and make good decision we are in a rut.
