True Blue Weekend
South Florida Jamaican Alumnae once again come together for the Annual unprecedented TRUE–BLUE weekend partnership with the 3–day True Blue Event: March 23rd–25th 2012.
The St. Andrew Old Girls' Association Florida Inc., The Convent of Mercy Academy "Alpha" Association, Inc., The St. George's College Old Boys Association of Florida, Inc. and The Jamaica College Old Boys Association of Florida, Inc have formed an unprecedented partnership to showcase once again the 3–day TRUE-BLUE Weekend events,
MARCH 23rd–25th 2012, with the now well–renowned Annual Dennis Ziadie Memorial Soccer Tournament. This joint effort, between these four organizations, is a first in South Florida amongst the Jamaican Alumni Association community.
This 3–day TRUE–BLUE Week–End of events will display the unwavering support JC and St. George's have with their "sister schools" St. Andrew High School Old Girls Association And The Convent of Mercy Alpha. Come one, come all, and let’s all take a trip down memory lane as we revisit one of the most exciting rivalries in Manning Cup football/soccer (Yaad–Style) in the “Battle of the Blues".
True Blue Week–End has now become an expansion of the annual Dennis Ziadie Memorial Cup football/soccer match between Jamaica College and St. George's College Old Boys Associations of Florida, Inc – in loving memory of Dennis Ziadie, who coached both schools to Manning Cup victories. This year marks the 26th year of the death of Dennis Ziadie, who died in an automobile crash in Mexico while attending the 1986 FIFA World Cup.
Last year’s match drew over 2500 spectators and supporters. As one of many proud JC Ole’ Boyz, we and so many others are REAL excited to be a part of the now annual TRUE–BLUE Week–End of events. JCOBAFL is proud to collaborate with our arch rivals St. George’s College as well as both “Sista–Schools” of St. Andrews High School for Girls and Convent of Mercy Alpha alumnae with this illustrious weekend endeavor.
This fraternity of teamwork and inclusiveness, between these alumnae, is a TRUE reflection of their strides toward fulfilling separate but common goals for their individual Alma maters. The formation of this alliance is intended to help the wider community of the younger generation, here and in our beloved homeland, as we trust that this endeavor will become the prototype used by other Alumni Associations towards planting the seeds of hope for the future – for the students and the common good of our Alma Maters."
STAY TUNED FOR EVENT UPDATES !!!
