"We are living in a global world and no longer isolated and, therefore, in the development of the sport, I see it as a positive that foreign nationals can wish to integrate themselves and be part of the landscape and programme here in Jamaica."

"It therefore is useless and pointless, unless it is for share malice and victimisation to arrest and charge a 92-year-old man for such a simple offence. There is nothing morally wrong with this man smoking a spliff; the only thing wrong is that it is still on the law books," said Chevannes.

Totally agree. We should see it as a potential opportunity for sports tourism and sports as a business generally rather than a negative.

I still maintain that if the floodgates really open there would have to be limits regarding international athletes, but we are a long way from that now.

Some of the people grumbling will hear Carl Lewis and company make the same argument at the US college level , re overseas athletes, and say is badmind them badmind, not for a moment thinking that this is the same thing,

People have a fascinating way of taking both sides of the same argument depending on what suits them at that moment.
