  • Billions in statutory deductions owed by Government agencies

Several government agencies continue to flout the law by failing to pay over their employees's statutory deductions.

The amount in arrears has increased to nearly $2 billion.

Information contained in the latest report of the Auditor-General shows the arrears have been racked up over several years.

According to the Auditor-General, recent audits conducted by his office indicated that five Government agencies had not remitted $1.8 billion deducted from employees' emoluments.

The delinquent agencies were not named.

The Auditor-General said this exposes the entities to legal sanctions while employees' entitlement to certain benefits could be comprised.

Has been on-going for years - My NIS and Housing Trust contributions have not been 'sorted out' 1968 through 1990! (JLP & PNP governments).

btw - It would be good for persons expecting to retire in the next 1 to 10 years to contact relevant government agancies and get their files/accounts current.
