  • Taxes - In di USA

    just si-neek hit hin! :w00t:

The FCC recently mandated that VoIP providers, including Vonage, are
required to contribute to the Federal Universal Service Fund (USF).
Vonage is committed to complying with this mandate from the FCC.
Accordingly, a 5.31% Federal Universal Service Fee will be added to your
bill. Vonage does not profit nor benefit in any way from this
contribution to the USF. This charge is passed directly to the United
    States government.

The goals of Universal Service, as mandated by the 1996
Telecommunications Act, are to promote the availability of quality
services at just, reasonable, and affordable rates; increase access to
advanced telecommunications services throughout the Nation and advance
the availability of such services to all consumers. For more information
    please visit
    http://www.fcc.gov.

Have been trying out another VoIP phone service. Skype offers free calling to anywhere in the USA/Canada until the end of the year. No monthly fee, costs .12/minute to Jamaica, but you have to purchase their equipment. The phone goes for $45, and a cordless for $99. To receive calls, one has to purchase a phone number $12/3 months or $38/year.

You do know Vonage offerscalls through out the US andCanada at a flat monthly rate of approximately $30.00 - $40.00 dollars. ...and, you do know it offers calls to Jamaica, Englandand otherEuropean countries at pepper-corn rates?

I use Vonage...and, am perfectly happywith the service.
