Dr. Lawrence told Tuesday morning's sitting of the Public Accounts Committee looking into cost overruns in Sandals Whitehouse project, that he will be pursuing talks with his attorneys to see what action can be taken against Mr. Christie.
Dr. Lawrence claimed that he was defamed in the Contractor General's report on the controversial project.
According to Dr. Lawrence, this action will be based on claims by the Contractor General that in his capacity as UDC chairman, he awarded a contract to Gentech Limited.
Dr. Lawrence, who is a Director of Gentech, said the Contractor General was incorrect as Gentech was recruited by Chairman of the Sandals Group Gordon "Butch" Stewart years before the UDC and other state entities entered into a contract with Gorstew Limited.
Dr. Lawrence says if he cannot pursue the matter through the courts he will consider other action.
“The false and defamatory allegations made by the Contractor General, on which he based his assertion of a conflict of interest on the part of myself and the UDC in general, has been widely accepted as the truth in various sections of the media,” said the former chairman.
“It occasioned damage to my reputation. I have given <A class=kLink oncontextmenu="return false;" id=KonaLink3 onmouseover=adlinkMouseOver(event,this,3); style="POSITION: relative; TEXT-DECORATION: underline! important" onclick=adlinkMouseClick(event,this,3); onmouseout=adlinkMouseOut(
