Vice-Chancellor Emeritus of the University of the West Indies (UWI), Professor Rex Nettleford, remains unconscious in a Washington DC hospital in the US this afternoon.
Professor Nettleford was admitted to the medical facility after collapsing in a hotel in the US capital yesterday evening (1/27).
A statement from the UWI today said Professor Nettleford who is 76, is yet to regain consciousness.
The UWI said it is unaware of the cause of his collapse, but disclosed that Professor Nettleford is in Washington DC to attend a fundraising gala for the university.
The government and the Opposition People’s National Party have both issued statements wishing Professor Nettleford a speedy recovery.
