...not military invasion, Don1...at least that is what I think X means.

if i was a betting man i would say i would guess the latter, i.e. or maybe because I would like to live there so it would affect me directly?

i say apathy because the information is there on the net, same way you TRY to educate yourself on the issues more persons could as well. for example, a lot of them on social networking sites like FB with friends and family in JA who invariably seem to include news out of JA on their posts.

hte fact is most are not interested to know (why should they unless they ahve an interest) hence, apathy.

anyway it still does not explain YOUR interest as i am quite sure that your family dynamic is not that much different from so many other british families of jamaican descent. what set you apart from the apathy of your generation in general, where jamaican socio/politico/econo issues are concerned.
Nope not his name lol. Funny enough, he has just come over for a visit and Im surprised he hasn't mentioned the Dudus issue yet! Im sure it will come up though.

To be honest, my family are not really interested in day to day Jamaican politics. They have a general interest in how Jamaica is doing because they own land there and intend to live there. Its not just apathy Gamma, its lack of information. For as much as Mosiah et al are saying this is big international news, I wouldn't have known about it if it wasn't for the Gleaner and the Observer. Im not sure why I have an interest in Jamaican politics more than most, probably because I see it as the reason why Jamaica can't progress, or maybe because I would like to live there so it would affect me directly?

Erm Misslondon; I will make a post that will reveal to you why Ja is still poor post Independence. You seem to need a guide around the site you may find yourself at times in a pickle. To be honest I liked the little pickel you fell in just now but you were let off easily. Don't worry about Mo he is really harmeless (more bark than bite)

London commentary is irrelevant. As is your red herring about big international news.

You stated that only Jamaicans have interest in the matter. This is demonstrably false by virtue of the international press attention the issue is generating.

What about this don't you understand?
Like I said, go to a British (I can only speak for Britain) forum and see how much interest this story is gathering. Lots of things are printed in the middle to back pages of newspapers, most of which nobody in said country really cares about. If you want to feel that Jamaican politics is of big international interest thats up to you, again, that doesn't make it any less important, but how many of your non-jamaican friends/work colleagues are talking about this issue?

    LOL!

if you think it makes me feel better, knock ourself out!

the point is, you have no clue what these recent happenings in jamaica means to those who matter.

i guess that's the key - those who matter.

Why don't you visit a British based forum to see how much (or little) interest this topic has generated? I can direct you to one, if you like.....
