Noting the special relationship between the US and Jamaica, Ambassador Kirk said he looked forward to working closely on issues of common interest. According to Ambassador Kirk, "Jamaica is seen as a leader in the Caribbean," and he expressed appreciation for the efforts of that country to conclude negotiations on the Trade and Investment Framework Agreement (TIFA) between CARICOM and the US.
Welcoming the signal of the interest in strengthening trade relations with Jamaica, Ambassador Marks outlined to the U.S. Trade Representative a number of steps taken by the Government of Jamaica to pursue economic growth, based on managing fiscal affairs by holding deficits within pre-determined parameters and establishing a fixed debt to GDP ratio. " These policies, being pursued in partnership with the International Monetary Fund (IMF). have placed Jamaica on a path of sustainable economic and social development," the Jamaican Ambassador told the U.S. official"

good post maudib , you highlighted some positivity but we must not forget
that jlp and usa have always been warm . We must not forget Alexander
Bustamante did well in the 60s when he said jamaica is not a communist
country and would seek warmer relationship with the USA . We must not
forget that Mr Seaga had a very good relation ship with the country of his
birth in the 80s and USAID gave us grants which during that time is the most we have ever received . I saw Bruce Golding and Obama at the G8
or G20 meeting and I can tell Obama/Bruce both had a good talk cause
they stood side by side in a meeting with six other african nations plus
haiti . so maudib jamaica labor party had always had a good relationship
with the united states ,it's a tradition for labor Goverments to do so .

when the CIA went to ja , it was in the height of the cold war (1974-1980) jimmy carter was president who later admit the CIA was in ja .

...and lest we forget the same thing that has started to occur under this Likle Brucie government occurred under the Seaga's "time of greatest growth in the economy" - tremendous loss of jobs and greatest levels of under-reported unemployment figures. The majority of Jamaica's sucked salt as a few lived hog high on the land.

There a preaching of the need to contract government...make a leaner more efficient government and businesses followed suit and tens of thousands were thrown into the streets even as tens of thousands poured out of institutions of learning. So it was, so it shall be!
