Kennedy Reid has written a large book titled "The History Of Portmore." Because of my previous association with a certain soccer team, now defunct, I am on his mailing list.
The Jamaican Historical Society will present Reid and his book at a book signing/reading tomorrow (see below). You can preview the book at www.portmore.info. Reid runs that site. "History Of Portmore" has a list price of $39 USD or J$3600. Here is a copy of the e-mail I recieved:

Dear Members,
Mr. Kennedy Reid, an active member of our Society has recently published a history of Portmore, which is the first substantial work on this area. His book is called The Story of Portmore: An Illustrated History of Jamaica's Sunshine City.
To celebrate this event the Society has arranged for Mr. Reid to speak about the book, how he undertook the research and to read excerpts from it.
This event will be held on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at 6:00pm at Bookophilia, 92 Hope Road, Kingston 6.
Copies of the book will be on sale.
Come and join us as we celebrate with our member his achievement.
