JCC joins calls for Warmington to be booted

THE Jamaica Chamber of Commerce (JCC) has joined those calling for former member of parliament Everald Warmington, to be barred from nomination as the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) candidate to contest the by-election for the vacant South West St Catherine seat.
The JCC's call comes a day after the Women in Media group wrote to Prime Minister Bruce Golding signalling their disgust with what they said was Warmington's 'disrespectful behaviour to women'.
"We within the Jamaica Chamber of Commerce believe that Mr Warmington's behaviour has been outrageously unacceptable for quite some time. It is beyond time for us and, indeed, all of Jamaica, to say enough is enough," JCC head Milton Samuda said in a statement today.
"As an organisation whose members are all leaders in their own right in the business and other sectors of Jamaica, the Jamaica Chamber of Commerce believes that it is necessary for us to make our voice heard in helping to ensure that dignity, uprightness, and principles which were once the hallmarks of our beloved country, Jamaica, are once again given a fighting chance of survival. How else will we be able to convince an already-disillusioned youth sector that there are noble examples for them to follow and preserve for Jamaica's sustainable development?" he added.
Warmington resigned from parliament last week and was reportedly disrespectful to CVM TV's anchor Kerlyn Brown during an interview. He allegedly also made disparaging remarks to Brown's colleague off the air.
