  • Owen Ellington refurses to give statement

There's a major development the in the ongoing corruption investigation involving Senior Superintendent James Forbes, JLP MP Daryl Vaz and St Andrew businessman, Bruce Bicknell.

Highly placed sources told RJR News today that Police Commissioner Owen Ellington, a potential witness in the case, has refused to provide a statement in the matter.

Government prosecutors had reported last week that they were awaiting a statement from the Commissioner to complete the case file.

However, our sources with intimate knowledge of the case, reported that the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions requested a statement from the Police Commissioner, but so far he's not cooperating.

The sources say this will be disclosed to the court when the matter comes up on September 5.

Last week, Commissioner Ellington challenged claims by Deputy Director of Public Prosecution, Dirk Harrison, that they were awaiting a statement from him.

In a statement issued through the Constabulary Communication Network, hours after the case was mentioned, the Police Commissioner made it clear that neither the office of the deputy director nor the investigator in the matter had requested a statement from him, at that point.

Commissioner Ellington argued that he does not know and does not have any interest in knowing who the individual investigator in the matter is.

He said his only interest in the matter, is that a fair and professional investigation is carried out.
