Is the sarcasm meant to embarrass the president? What should he do about crime in Chicago?

He should demand his brethren, the mayor & the governor call out the National Guard and set up road blocks in the war zones. Encourage his brethren to declare a state of emergency. Convene a real commission to tackle urban crime, the proposals that came out of the Biden's School Violence Taskforce would have very little effect on crime, and was just a feel good measure intended for his Left Wing & Liberal suburbanite friends. An assault weapons ban & limits on magazines to 10 rounds has very little impact on urban crime. Over 80% of gun crime is by pistols. He should also push these -> require a background check or permit for all online gun sales (no check in states like Arizona, Texas). Do you know you can buy an AK-47 in Arizona face to face without a permit? (here-> ak). Most do not understand urban crime, and are grasping at straws for feel good legislation.

I guess he needs to call his other bredrin in NJ, Gov. Christie, and talk to him about the violence in Newark also.But why stop there, Compton in LA needs a phone call too.

I see this being solved (for the long term) in another way. your approach is good Hortical One...but the replacement of thugs is in the "pipeline". The above approach will be an unending.......

I think it should have a civil rights approach; where mega emphasis is placed on the BLACK family structure and education.

*Discouraging BLACK teen-age pregnancy. Same with young BLACK males...discouraging unprotected sex.

*Emphasizing the importance of a good education. Successful Black role models (not basketball of football types) mentoring BLACK youths.

*Schools specially geared for BLACK learning...

*More emphasis on the BLACK church on the family.

The crime in places like Chicago and New Orleans are the result of failed communities, young men with no skills, no education, no hope, no dreams.

Obama cannot fix that with a phone call. Nobody can. It is a localized problem which requires local solutions.

A phone call can not reduce crime. More Americans were killed in Chicago than in Afghanistan in 2012.

Why should that be surprising?

The more relevant question is how Americans were killed in Chicago in 2002 (658) and in 1992 (950). There were much less killed in 2012 (about 500).

The reason Chicago is looking really bad is that crime in other big cities has been falling at a faster rate.

Those are excellent suggestions, and we need to see real leadership discussing effective solutions. Most politicians do not want to roll up their sleeves. Had dinner with inmates the other day at a minimum security prison in CT. Most can barely read, come from single family homes etc.

The ongle time Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and others show there faces is when you have a Travon Martin-like incidences.

We need these leaders to lead the charge on rebuilding the BLACK family.

I recall growing up...every child (appear) to have a Male and Female in their house hold. Even if by common law...
