Well the PM has a security detail for a reason.Reporters were kept out of TG during crucial stages,discovery(Crucial investigative stage) was more likely there than here.
Her refusal became the issue,she probably was right regarfing reason given....

Not surprised. That is the kind of verdict you will get when you have an uninformed jury.

1) The reporter was ALREADY talking to the PM and she was happy to answer questions about the project. Hence talk of security not allowing reporter near the PM makes no sense.

2) The PM does not hold press conferences. She does not think they are necessary. Maybe that will be lesson number 1 in her leadership seminars ?

Having seen the video, here are my views on the incident.

Portia did not have to say anything about the mic being pushed in her face. She was standing right in front of him and speaking. Where does she expect the mic to be?!?! Anyway, that was what made one of her security officers, the dumb one in the dark suit, act the fool and push the reporter with uncalled for aggression. The other security officer held his ground and behaved as he should.

As for this lecture about the international media never being disrespectful, at no time was the reporter disrespectful. I don't think he needed to have continued questioning Portia about Azan. Portia had actually answered him moments before, saying the DPP ruled Azan did nothing criminal. For the reporter to start talking about what the opposition is saying was out of place for me.

At the end of the day, Portia needs to be a little less thin-skinned and her security officer in the dark suit needs some more training.

Jawge, you're making excuses for Portia when there is none. In her defence I would say that she did address his question , somewhat... However, she is the PM and why does she feel SHE should decide what should be asked of her? (within good reason of course).

Saying that what she wants to be reported is the project (and the reporter said he would report it) smacks to me of "policticking" at the newspapers expense.

The reporter treatement was not a big deal, however Portia's avoidance was. Yes, she gave a stock answer, but if she did regualra press conferences, none of this would have come to pass.

...that is another issue. Perhaps the issue that caused the reporter to lose his sense of 'right' and showed such poor behavior. We all 'lick out' at times when we are frustrated and upset. ...but it is not good to dive into anti-social behavior.
