KINGSTON, Jamaica:
The game is on!” So says General Secretary of the Trinidad and Tobago Football Association Sheldon Phillips, who tells The Gleaner the pay dispute between the Soca Warriors and the association, has been resolved.

The players had threatened to boycott tonight's final of the Caribbean Cup in Montego Bay where the Soca Warriors will attempt to claim their ninth title when they take on home team the Reggae Boyz at 8 p.m.

The players were upset about an estimated TT$10 million in salaries and arrears owed to them by the association.

However, Phillips tells The Gleaner that the matter was resolved last night and that the TTFA President Raymond Tim Kee was enroute to Jamaica to lend additional support to the team as they battle the Reggae Boyz.

He praised the Ministry of Sport and Ministry of Finance for expediting the drawdown of the funds needed to settle the debts outstanding to the players thus diffusing the situation and allowing the final to proceed as planned.

Jamaica Football Federation President Captain Horace Burrell was thankful that the matter was being resolved. cont'd

People’s National Movement (PNM) political leader Dr Keith Rowley yesterday demanded that Government find money to pay the national women’s and men’s football teams and the coach.

Seriously though,this isn't the first time it has happened,if the citizens do not trust the Govt ,why dhould other countries?

and the only time the players have some leverage is during tournaments....

It is not a good thing when Government is involved in football (or sports). These are not governmental domain.

Football [IDEALLY] should be run by private enterprises.

until they become a government unto themselves like FIFA.

ICC is getting that way largely due to the influence of BCCI....

so far the Darts association remains fairly scandal free.

It's a Catch-22, but (most) gova-ment is a recipe for inefficiency, poor management and............. corruption... (please leave Jack 'the ripper' Warner out of this).

how can we? other than being one of the worst mass murderers in the history of civilization, hitler was a nice guy and did a lot for germany.

so far though FIFA has good management (they get things done), efficiency (the games start on time) but they are corrupt.
