Terra Nova to roll out high-rise condos


The Hussey family, owners of the Terra Nova hotel, has tapped architects Clifton Yap and Outram Hussey to design a new high-rise for luxury condominiums that will be sold to investors.

The new development to be called ‘The Residences at Terra Nova’ is slated for lands adjacent to the hotel.

Pike says he is excited about R Hotel adding value and distinguishing itself from the competition, especially when more rooms come on stream in Kington from the Terra Nova condos, the new AC Marriott being built at Lady Musgrave Road by Sandals Resorts, as well as Kevin Hendrickson’s newest hotel acquisition at 77 Knutsford Boulevard, which is now under renovation.

“Since we opened, each month is better than the previous one. Kingston is busy. Business is booming when it comes on to hotels in Kingston,” Pike said.

Former Oceana Hotel to open next year as ROK, Kingston


The former Oceana hotel in downtown Kingston is to be opened next year under a new brand – ROK, Kingston.

The 168-room property, overlooking downtown Kingston’s waterfront, is to be managed by Hilton through its Tapestry Collection trademark and will be part of a multi-purpose complex including retail, on-site entertainment and commercial office spaces.

Evan Williams' dream, the R Hotel, finally opens in New Kingston

And so the story of Jamaican architect Evan Williams' year so far, has already convinced us that 2019 must be his year.

Just a couple of months after his Design Collective Team's concept was identified as the most fitting one representing the significance of the new Jamaican parliament, on which construction is expected to start next year, Williams was finally able to open the doors, Thursday night, to his pet project for nearly two decades, The R Hotel on Renfrew Road, New Kingston.

A formidable structure in the midst of the vast expanse of concrete and asphalted New Kingston, the new hotel stands out like a tribute to his years of untiring devotion to Jamaica's most prestigious business community, the way the Red Bones Café once did, thanks to the support he has received from his most recent partner, investor Joseph Bogdanovich, over the past few years.

“Expanding the capacity in the hotel sector in Kingston will ensure that Jamaica has the rooms and quite literally will have the capacity to accommodate all the tourists that will come to Kingston for our diverse culture, entertainment and historic offerings,” he told the crowd.

AC Hotel Kingston opens June 17


The hotel room count in Jamaica's capital city will jump by 220 when the the first AC Hotel by Marriott in the Caribbean opens for business on June 17.

Anticipation is running high, not only in Kingston, but throughout the overseas travel trade for the new property which is an initiative of the Gordon “Butch” Stewart family enterprise and represents the family's first major tourism venture outside of its Sandals/Beaches resorts trademark.

The hotel is being spearheaded by Sandals/ATL Group's Deputy Chairman Adam Stewart, who has assured Jamaicans and the travel trade that the AC Hotel Kingston raises the bar on service, guest comfort, and modern state-of-the-art facilities.

Its good to see the perinnial minister of tourism,Butch invest a hotel in kgn,since 2018,i said we needed 10,we now have put up 2 or three, when we touch 5 expect the gentrification process to kick off in down town and east kgn.
