  • "The ultimate measure of a man (read woman)

is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at a time of challenge and controversy." MLK.

This is where Portia let all of us down. She is not a leader. K.D. Knight put it another way when he said "If the person is popular (comfort and convenience) but cannot hold the party (challenge and controversy) then the party is going to loose."

This you need to appreciate Jawge, rather than posture rubbish about the greatest leader since Manley. Every challenge Portia has faced, every controversy that has confronted her; she has either hid from or appeared reactionary and indecisive, the last one being the appalling way she handled the aftermath of her defeat at the polls. This is not leadership!! She has been weighed time and time again and has ultimately been found wanting. Contrast this with Bruce Golding, who is more and more appearing to be a man for our times such is the incredible way he is able to articulate the issues, and her shortcomings are stark and dramatic. Look at how he has handled challenge and controversy!! What therefore is his ultimate measure!?

Once again, in times of challenge Portia has ducked. She concedes the election. But does she face the press? Does she have the courage and commitment to engage the people!? NO. Only in times of comfort and convenience does she do this, not in times of challenge and controversy. The great majesty of her immense popularity, the bankable currency of her extraordinary affinity with the people is reduced to a faceless statement palliating as best she can her defeat. This is not leadership and truly, I now pity her. It must be very hard for her to take.

it won't get any easier inside her party ALREADY machinery is in place for a post election cleansing of the pnp. the strength of the pnp has in the past been its' unity and the fanatstic job the youth arm does with indoctrination this one will rock them....let's see how they handle it...most importantly let's see how portia deals with the pending demotion.
