    <P class=StoryText align=justify>THE Jamaica Bobsleigh Federation (JBF) will be moving to its training phase at GC Foster College and Mandeville over the next few weeks, as it intensifies the rebuilding process for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada.<P class=StoryText align=justify>Having shortlisted four persons from the first trial held at GC Foster on July 29, the JBF, under the watchful eyes of national coach Wayne Thomas, conducted a second selection event yesterday at the Up Park Camp.<TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=5 width=330 align=center border=0><TBODY><TR><TD></TD></TR><TR><TD><SPAN class=Description>Stand-outs: (From left) Ramone Birch, Marvin Dixon, Joel Alexander and David Summerbell Jr push a mechanical cart during a sled-push exercise at Up Park Camp yesterday. We didn't expect to have so much people, so we're quite happy and we have seen some good prospects," coach Thomas told the Sunday Observer.<P class=StoryText align=justify>He added. "The guys from the first trial seem to be better of the 24 participants here (Up Park Camp), but we have seen some new talent that are interesting.<P class=StoryText align=justify>"We will assess the results from today (yesterday) and shortlist as much people whom we think are competent enough to move on to the next level and then from that group we will select the best to travel to train on ice for some time this season," said Thomas.
    The ice training is due to take place in Canada, starting in October.<P class=StoryText align=justify>The participants at yesterday's trial, most of them soldiers , were put through their paces in three events - 30-metre sprints, 60-metre sprints and a 30-metre sled push. The first selection process also included a standing long jump, vertical jumps and power clean.<P class=StoryText align=justify>As the JBF looks to build both a four-man and a two-man team, president Tal Stokes told the Sunday Observer that they are looking to get the right mix of people.
    "We are looking for the right combinations of speed and power and it looks very promising," he said.<P class=StoryText align=justify>Jamaica's last showing at the Winter Olympics came at the 2002 Games in Salt Lake City as the team failed to qualify for the 2006 staging in Italy this past February.
