YOUTH
TEAMS IN CAMP
While the
senior team prepares for the Gold Cup, the Under-20s and the
Under-23s are preparing to do battle in August and September
respectively. The Under-20s should be competing in a tournament in
Germany in August, while the Under-23s 9Olympic team), are being
prepared to tackle Cuba in the first round of Olympic qualifying in
September – home and away.
FULLER
TRAINING IN JAMAICA
National
striker Ricardo Fuller trained with the squad this morning at the
Red Stripe Oval in Kingston and according to coach Carl Brown, “he
looked good to me. Never showed any sign of pain. Good workout.”
Fuller, who
underwent knee ligament operation six months ago, has been
undergoing rehabilitation. He started light training three months
ago in England and is in the island on vacations. However, he is
using the opportunity to strengthen himself and get into condition
for the new season starting in August. He will be training with the
team but will not be going to the Gold Cup.
He returns to
Preston North End on July 9 to start preseason with the hope of
taking his game and club to another level. Good luck son!
JAMAICA
VS ‘RIO’ SELECTION – NOT BRAZIL!
At a Press Conference recently, Red
Stripe cleared up the misconception that Jamaica would be playing
World Champions Brazil in the Stadium on July 27. The adverts and
promotion have been adjusted and now states, “Reggae Boyz vs a
Brazilian team”. It has now been confirmed that the team will be a
selection of stars from the ‘RIO’ region of Brazil, including Dunga
and Bebeto. At the request of the Jamaica Football Federation, 5000
bleacher and 2000 Grandstand tickets will be sold to the public.
