It would not have. Different plot but same result. Taylor is a 45.x runner there is no way Bloomfield was going to make up that amount and sustain it once Taylor ran his own race. Bloomfield did the best he could have done.

At which mark specifically did he slowly speed up,and 2) pass Bloomfield ?
He panicked at the 200 m and sped there after, catching him between the 60 to 80 meter mark and never eased up.As you insinuated he sized up Bloomfield speed.
Revisit that video!

Bloomfield had too much to do!Originally posted by Jangle View PostChristopher Taylor over Bloomfield in the 4 x 400
Yet, Taylor showed great maturity...when caught and passed he 'stepped it up' slowly and steadily, no panic which would have given an adrenaline rush and dissipated great energy and a loss. He ran a comfortable leg...and overtook the much faster 400M man over that leg.
Bloomfield ran the leg at least 10+ meters faster than Taylor!Last edited by Karl; March 20, 2016, 11:45 AM.

Agree with the workload argument by gamma, age to me is a nonissue, more so ability,Taylor is a world champion.

Plus Taylor is younger and should have been more fatigued having taken part in more races over the course of the championship and especially the last day

As if Bloomfield didn't blow past Taylor and open a decent gap unlike,Donkey man that just settled in front of Merrit,, it took Taylor the 60 to 70 m some might argue 80m mark to overtake Bloomfield.
It was war to the end ,Taylor didn't or could not ease up when he pursued Bloomfield from the 200m meter mark.He also expended massive energy.
That said Bloomfield approach was wrong doubt it would change though.

Taylor and Bloomfield were tired, it is the last race of the meet!!!!! Look how Merrick watched Javon Francis going past and waited to pounce. That is how you run a 400m championship race. Taylor made the better choice, he used his brain!Originally posted by Sir X View PostThe final time was slower than the heats , proof if Taylor wanted to go out hard , Bloomfield couldnt catch him, in other words Taylor played with him.

It was a lot to make up, especially against an athlete of Taylor's capability, it may have helped Bloomfield if Taylor took off like a rabbit, but he did not. He cruised and waited for him to catch him and turned it into a 200 meter race with Bloomfield wasted. Taylor has a brilliant mind!
