    You know I've heard conflicting evidence. Wood frame is flexible which is a good characteristic for an earthquake but they tend to slide off the foundation if not anchored properly. The CMU if vertically and horizontally reinforced seems to stand up pretty well with the shear walls being key. It is interesting to see what would fall and what wouldn't.

      It would be interesting. It would be better if we just don't have any earthquakes at all!

      I've read that the Incas of Machu Pichu did not use mortar between the bricks, allowing for slippage back and forth. Their structures have stood for hundreds of years, but something tells me they haven't experienced a 7.0!
