Nice but I like this :

Although China holds the patents on the technology, design and equipment used by the CRH380 train, some in the industry question the degree to which China is justified in claiming the latest technology as its own.
"Everybody knows that a lot of the core technology is European," Michael Clausecker, director general of Unife, the Association of the European Rail Industry, said in a recent interview. And despite the obvious benefits high-speed railways bring, the replacement of slower lines with more expensive high-speed trains has prompted complaints from passengers reluctant to pay higher fares, especially on shorter routes.

The US will be afraid when they can mix the concrete to build the dam ( a chemical engineering marvel by itself) Do your research and find out where the concrete came from.

Yeah but I think that Americas middle class is more ignorant of the rest of the world than the middle class in most other countries. Only countries them fighting war with them have a little knowledge of.

Maybe its simply because they have been dominant for so long , and they have not had to know or care.

That may be true...but it doesn't mean (to me) that when gross ignorance is encountered that it should not be challenged with reality

Many Americans have accepted that China is much more than that. There is a reason why Arnold Schwarzenegger was in China discussing California's high speed rail plan.

The only people with these questions are the nervous Americans. Dem can stay deh feel say China going to copy and stop right there. I know some Chinese students in my grad class who were not copying from anyone! Plain geniuses, or at least, extremely hard workers. When we got a project to do for a week, these students were handing in mini-thesis papers!
