...just think on it and it is easy to see that the entire group of athletes could be "put off their game"!

He cares not one fig for his own athletes (He knows his antics are a distraction to them!)...and not one fig for the rest of the athletes (He knows his actions are a distraction!) ...and not one fig for Jamaica (he knows his actions shall cost us!)

If he continues like this he should be just cut loose for the greater good of all!

The athletes must get access to their coaches. Last year, Paul Francis the other MVP coach was denied accreditation in Osaka. Frater and Sgherone paid their way there but were not allowed in the training area to train with their teammates and offer encouragement.

DQ is feuding with Franno. MVP had their plans set from Feb, and then DQ decided to makes conflicting plans. We are at war with each other.

What good can come of that?

That we should not be at war with each other is bang on...
...just as the saying by some that Franno is correct is 100% wrong!

Franno has been at loggerhead with the JAAA from the inception of MVP. H e has rightly accused them of being an Old Boys Club and has been very outspoken... to his detriment. However, in the interest of the nation and the athletes, they need to work out their ego issues. His comment about the coaches being just high school coaches, I believe is out of frustration and anger. His success is proven and as such, should be incorporated in the JAAA plans. Most if not all of his athletes were never high school stars, and for them to become such a success shows that his traing methods work.

Francis is correct about the JAAA, however there is only one way to get Francis on the management team and that is to give him complete control over his MVP atheletes or complete control over all the atheletes. Now the JAAA is not going to do that, they want to retain control.

How would you arrange a compromise?

Unfortunately this is typical Jamaican plantation management style. When Asafa was running all his world record times did the JAAA intervine and say we want you to train this way? Now at the olympic games he and the MVP athletes must subject themselves to the "team" coaches. Simply an ego and glory grab. Plantation management at it's finest.

On the eve of what is widely expected to be Jamaica ’s most successful Olympics ever, there is discord and division. Members of the MVP track and field club are heading to the pre-Olympic camp in China put on by the Jamaica Olympic Association/JAAA under protest, according to Coach Stephen Francis.

He said that the camp was put on by the JOA/JAAA to ensure that his athletes do not do well. “They put on this camp only after hearing in February that we were planning to have our own,” Francis said.

“The athletes believe that their current programme and training (with him) are geared for their success,” Francis said. “The athletes are being forced to go to the camp to work with a bunch of high school coaches who have no clue about what they are doing. There is nothing to be achieved there.”

He went on to say that even the medical personnel are inadequate.

Francis said that he will not be going to the camp and will probably not see his athletes until after the Olympics. “I will be working with the other athletes from the other countries,” he concluded.

Ten members of the MVP were selected on the Olympic team: Asafa Powell, Michael Frater, Nesta Carter, Andre Wellington, Markeino Buckley, Sherone Simpson, Shelly-Ann Fraser, Bridgette Foster-Hylton, Melaine Walker and Sherika Williams.

President of the JOA, Mike Fennell told JamaicaWin.com that the camp is mandatory and athletes who want to participate at the Games must be at the camp. “If you do not want to participate in the Olympics then you do not have to attend the camp,” Fennell said. Earlier this week, Ludlow Watts, manager of Jamaica ’s track and field contingent said every athlete is expected to attend the camp, bar none.

The camp in Tianjin , about 80 kilometres outside of Beijing , opens today with the first training sessions scheduled for Friday morning and evening. The coaching panel is: Technical leader Donald Quarrie, Head coach Glen Mills, coaches Bertland Cameron, Michael Clarke, Fitz Coleman, Edward Hector and Maurice Wilson.

The medical staff is: Head of Medical team Dr Primanand Singh, Dr Warren Blake, Dr Herb Elliot; Physiotheripist Patricia Lue-Chin and Gaynor Downer; Chiropractor Michael Douglas; Masseurs Everald Edwards and Gavin James and sports psychologist Kadija Richards.

Francis is the best coach for his track stars. No disrespect to the other coaches but Francis is the best coach for his stars. His words are harsh but that is Francis for you.

Now, anyone who know Francis, knows that he does not take orders from amyone. No one whatsover. That is Francis from his days at wolmers until the day he dies. This virtually rules out Francis from the JOA management team.

success has gone to his head?!!!! at least he has success for it get to his head!!! the JAAA should handle it better than this...sorry the burden is on them to make the athletes accessible to their coach...suh mi seet.

Franno is an ass!
He could be right and is a far superior coach to any and or all of the other coaches...but the work these other coaches have done over the years stand them in good stead. They have produced world class junior athletes and in some case world class senior athletes. They certainly are in a elite group.

...as to the competence of the medical personal...I just hope the silly Franno is not thinking he is better at what they do?!

On this...and I have backed him on some positions in the past...needs to just grow up and conduct himself as a more mature gentleman.
