Not one of these players have had a history of more than ten assists in any season playing out of the central midfielder role, how is that possible, it comes from a lack of even recognizing that passing is the most important part of the game and scoring is mostly always a part or end product of passing, yet we continue to not even recognize or record assists in the local game, consequently we cannot produce any players who actually can pass the ball and create out of midfield. I have gone through all these players and the ones we recognize as the best are either goal scorer like Dawkins, a bunch of wingers like jj, mccleary, mcanuff, humphreys, Richards or they are defensive mids like Austin, Taylor or Elliott.

Now everybody is asking where is our attacking, central midfielder.

All players must be able to pass and move...move and pass...attack..defend!!!

All players must be able to create for self and for TEAM (...thus naturally TEAMmates)! ...a just suh di game guh!

Yes true in a perfect world true Dutch total ball, however we have shown that we produce poor passers play poor team ball so we need to figure a way to change that in our game and one great way to start changing the culture is to start tracking the assist, which will create natural competition in that category and will thus overemphasize the importance of the player making the final pass that leads to a goal.


Look at that list of players, there are no central attacking players there not one or not one that could be said to be productive at a professional league league level.

Agreed that it is silly to not keep a record of such stats!
...however, we also need to encourage TEAM=TEAMplay!!!!

Why?

If each player was focused on sharing the ball with better placed...best placed TEAMmate then there would be more attempts at passing (and movement)...and it just may bring about the opposite effect to "too few passes attempted...extremely limited practice at passing...and to no surprise "poor passing"!!!!
