Where are the authorities being selective? What triggered the investigation? Why were they able to file charges against those they did? Are you reading the various articles posted or just glancing at the title and reaching a conclusion?

He's been too busy praising Jack Warner to have a problem with it.Originally posted by Lazie View PostX, you don't have a problem with these people accepting bribes to pick a World Cup host? Do you think FIFA is a corrupt entity? If so, don't you think it is time for it to be cleaned up?

Lazie.
As usual you miss the point ,why selectively out corruption? I dont believe the USA is clean, whennn all is done and said I would have a better informative position, ow did you get that impression?

Exactly!!!.......The U.S. was awarded the WC in 1988. Blazer became a ranking CONCACAF official 1990 and a FIFA executive committee member in 1996/97.

Blazer didn't have any power to influence that bid, because he got his CONCACAF position 2 years after the U.S. was awarded that World Cup.

Blazer got his CONCACAF position 2 years after the U.S. was awarded the World Cup, so it wouldn't make any sense giving him any money for that bid.

USAF made a good point; the 94 WC would have been awarded in the late 80s before Blazer was elevated to a more senior position in FIFA, so he might not know the runnings (have personal knowledge) regarding the awarding of that WC. That sounds reasonable to me too.

His question is not reasonable. Coming from anyone else it would be seen as reasonable, notice I addressed K and not Gamma? X basically brush aside what is happening in Qatar, insisting that the 2022 WC should remain in Qatar. Look at his exchange with Mosiah about this FIFA scandal? Reasonable, don't tell me you fell for that?Originally posted by Islandman View PostSure they are corrupt Lazie but X asks a reasonable question.
Seems very convenient that these bribes started right after the 1994 World Cup, doesn't it?

They are looking beyond (before ) 1994 as far as I understand. In 1989 for example, when T&T played USA in POS and only needed a point to advance to the 1990 WC, the stadium was grossly oversold... Jack or whoever (allegedly) was responsible for that was playing very loose with people's lives. Some folks think there should still be some sanction for the guilty party.
BTW, This is after 1994 but FYI, The CONCACAF Centre of Excellence to give it its correct name stands on land owned by JW... how come? this Centre was supposed to be a gift to the people of CONCACAF, not the Warner family. FIFA ignored the back dealings that finally ended with the Centre being erected where it now is.

Fifa bribe claim: South Africa comes out fighting
South Africa's sports minister was on fiery, bombastic form in Johannesburg, as he lashed out against the bribery allegations being levelled against his country.
Fikile Mbalula made it clear he believed "vested interests," and "imperialism" led by a United States "parading itself as "the world's policeman," were behind the FBI's sensational claim that South Africa paid $10 million to secure the 2010 World Cup.

Did South Africa pay a World Cup bribe?
So did South Africa really pay a $10m (£6.5m) dollar bribe to make sure they won the right to host the 2010 World Cup? This is one of the several corruption allegations engulfing Fifa, whose president, Sepp Blatter, has just announced he will be resigning.
If it was a bribe, it appears to have been a breathtakingly elegant, deniable one - performed both in broad daylight and years late. In recent days I have been talking, mostly off-the-record, to some senior figures here in South Africa - including one at the heart of the alleged corruption.
As you would expect, the denials have come thick, fast and indignant.

Now Jack Warner is set to start singing, or at least he's threatening to, so we'll see what comes out.
It's still early in this whole affair, with much dirt yet to be spilled.
